Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: Mexico and the Kingdom of Bahrain enjoy cordial and friendly ties since both countries established diplomatic ties in 1975.
“Both Governments are keen and working on strengthening the existing friendly relations in trade, tourism, investments, and other vital areas of common interests,” HE Anibal Gomez Toledo, Ambassador of Mexico to Bahrain told The24X7News Bahrain.
Ambassador Toledo, who was in Manama to lead Mexico National Day celebrations at the Gulf Hotel on Saturday, said that the diplomatic relations have been very friendly and are based on mutual respect and reciprocity.
Ambassador Toledo, who is based in Riyadh, emphasized on bilateral efforts by working on strengthening the existing relations through exchange of visits and fact-finding missions as well as holding dialogue on cultural and investment sides and other vital areas that can help to bolster the relations.
“The Mexican national day celebrations in Bahrain are a first step towards creating a cultural and social harmony between the people of both countries. I have been visiting Bahrain on regular basis
“I came to Bahrain to participate in this great celebration of Mexico, our 212 anniversaries of our independence,” Ambassador Toledo, said that Mexican is a small community in Bahrain yet very vibrant and consists of professionals and businesspeople.
Talking about the possibility of opening a full-fledged embassy he said he presented his credentials to HM King last year it was a good opportunity to exchange views and conversations with other top officials in the Kingdom.
“We must talk about connectivity as it is very important including air connectivity because if we have cargo is we have a trade that will bring more Mexicans for sure. For tourism and Mexico is always open for tourism. You know Mexico is one of the top 10 countries receiving international visitors every year even during the pandemic Mexico was the third highest recipient international tourists globally because we didn’t close our country. We would like to have more people from Bahrain, visiting Mexico and Gulf tourists’ top destination is the US and if you have a US visa then you do not need Mexican visit visa.
Talking about one of the world’s top cinema names, Cinepolis, the Ambassador said that this entertainment giant is present in Bahrain market, and we may bring Mexican Film Festival to Bahrain next year.”
