Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: Signing of Abraham Accord by the Kingdom of Bahrain and other countries is a huge step forward in achieving a long-lasting peace and creation of an independent Palestinian State, says a senior European diplomat.
“Germany appreciates the Kingdom of Bahrain’s major foreign policy initiative by normalizing the ties with Israel and continues closely working the Kingdom on all areas of common interest,” H.E. Clemens Hach, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Bahrain, said during his maiden media briefing.
HE Ambassador was speaking to members of local media during a Meet and Greet event held at the Diplomat Raddison Hotel, emphasizing normalization of relations with Israel is the only way forward for peace and creation of an independent Palestinian State.
“The policy of non-co-operation and boycott had yielded no results and is now past and moving forward normalization of the ties will help the Arabs to exert their influence on Israel while seeking for a peaceful solution for Palestinians,” he said.
The German envoy also applauded His Majesty King for patronizing Bahrain Dialogue Forum titled “East and West for Human Co-existence” saying that it has added a new dimension to the Kingdom’s tall stature for promoting peace through dialogue.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain’s principled stand on Ukraine is something everyone European nation values in the highest esteem. We also hope Bahrain can help in seeking the peaceful resolution of Russia-Ukraine standoff through diplomacy and dialogue,” he said.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain is one the most vibrant economies in the region and German seeks to work together in all areas of common interest. Bahrain-German also enjoy strong economic, commercial, and business ties,” he said, adding that currently bilateral trade stands at Euro 670 million and is growing.
Talking about the German investments he said some mega businesses such as DHL, RMA, BSF, SMS to name a few has their plants and operations in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Apart from these big industry leaders there are many small and medium size businesses also thriving in the Kingdom of Bahrain, thanks to an attractive investment climate,” he said.
He also touched upon the presence of major German Banks’ presence and other services giants in Bahrain including the SAP, a global leader in IT related services.
Germany, he said, is also keen on exploring avenues of co-operation and expanding in tourism, education, culture, and higher education in specific. “Youth exchange programme is also very important to further bolster the ties between the people of two these great nations,” he said.
