MANAMA: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (Bahrain-Chapter) has organized an informative and interactive seminar on “Islamic banking and digital revolution” at Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF).
The event was jointly organized by ICAP in partnership with BIBF and the AAOIFI had attracted 850 participants from across 60 countries and 150 participants in person, thanks to the live streaming of this insightful hybrid event by the organisers.
H.E. Muhammad Ayub, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan graced the occasion as a guest of honour and in his remarks highlighted the salient features of the Islamic banking and its emergence as promising segment of the global economy.
HE highlighted the emerging role of the Islamic banking and finance and how it has further strengthened the ties between Bahrain and Pakistan.
“Bahrain has become a leader and hub of Islamic banking and finance,” he said. He applauded the acumen of Islamic banking experts, in general, and Islamic banking experts from Pakistan, in specific, for their contributions to promoting Islamic banking in the GCC and globally.
Dr. Rizwan Malik delivered a welcoming note on behalf of BIBF. Muhammad Saeed Butt, Chairman of ICAP, Bahrain Chapter, welcomed the distinguished guests and participants and thanked the sponsors for their support.
Omar Mustafa Ansari, Secretary-General of AAOIFI Bahrain, in his presentation titled, “Standardization and Best Practices” touched upon the standardization and best practices in Islamic finance.
The panel discussion on the role of standard-setting bodies moderated by Dr. Rizwan Malik and joined by Ijlal Alvi, CEO of IIFM Bahrain, Omar Mustafa Ansari, Secretary General AAOIFI Bahrain, Sabeen Saleem, CEO of IIRA Bahrain and Lilian Le Falher, Head of Treasury Capital Markets at KFH Bahrain.
Noor Ur Rehman Abid, a seasoned banker and a towering personality in the realm of audit made a presentation on Islamic banking and digital revolution. He touched upon all critical issues related the subject with comprehensive coverage of real-life examples and statistics.
The panel discussion on Fintech’s role in Islamic finance was moderated by Mughees Shaukat, the panelists were Aman Khan, CFO of Khaleeji Bank Bahrain, Ashar Nazim, Group CEO of Aion Digital Bahrain, Farhan Noor, Head of Capacity Building AAOIFI Bahrain and Tayyab Raza, Director of Finance Vision Bank KSA.
