Manama: Taste of Egypt, a week-long festival hosted by Lulu Group at Dana Mall, has attracted huge interest among shoppers and food lovers especially the traditional Egyptian food prepared by native Egyptian Cheffs remained hot selling items in addition products during the festival.
The Lulu ‘Taste of Egypt’ Food Festival was inaugurated by Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Assistant Undersecretary Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the presence of Reham Ibrahim Abdulhamid Khalil, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Bahrain at Lulu hypermarket Dana Mall.
All the gests and VIPs were received by Juzer Rupawala, LuLu Group International Director, and members of the management.
The festival, which ran till 9th, featured an amazing variety of Egyptian food and a promotion on gourmet ingredients that will showcase the bounty of Egypt. There are fresh vegetables, fruits, fish and meat and a wide variety of flash-frozen vegetables and berries that bring the best of Egyptian agricultural produce to Bahrain consumers. There are also many varieties of Egyptian cheeses ranging from the popular Feta and Areesh cheeses to Roumi and a delicious double cream cheese.
LuLu’s talented in-house Egyptian chefs will cook up a medley of amazing Egyptian dishes for shoppers and these can be purchased by weight to enjoy at home. There will be classic favourites like Koshari – a mix of rice, lentils and macaroni served with a light tomato sauce; Bamia – a rich stew cooked with okra, tomatoes and spices; Molokhia greens as well as the famous Basbousa sweet – a cake made from semolina and soaked in sugar syrup and rose or orange blossom water.
Shoppers will be able to scoop up excellent branded and ready-to-use Egyptian spices and crunchy pickles. The inauguration was also marked by a colourful cultural event with Tannoura dancing, theatre and music.
