Al Sakhir: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Kingdom of Bahrain is on the right path of becoming a regional meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) and tourists’ hub in the region, thanks to the infrastructure and diversity of tourist attractions.
Mrs. Sara Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), who is a passionate about her new role, highlighting the strategy said that the successful hosting of Jewellery Arabia, along with Cityscape and Scent Arabia 2024, speaks volumes of the Kingdom’s capacity to host events of global scale.
“It is very nice when you get a responsibility for which enjoy working hard, Bahrain has successfully hosted one of the biggest exhibitions not only in Bahrain but in the region, Jewellery Arabia 2024 is a huge show concurrently held with Cityscape and Scent Arabia and this year has attracted huge number of visitors,” she said.
“This year’s edition has a very distinct feature as the local jewelers’ participation surged 30 per cent and it was great opportunity to visitors to see handmade jewellery of Bahraini companies which remained one of the key highlights. There are also big Bahraini brands with their unique designs and pearls which continued to be a major attraction during the exhibition. Bahraini pearls are in huge demand due to its historical identity of pearls to Bahrain and all around the world they enjoy the classical Bahraini pearls, this is what we will continue promote.”
BTEA, CEO while referring to the Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB), said that this world-class facility has added a new dimension to the Kingdom’s credentials as the frontrunner of becoming a regional MICE hub.
“The jewellery Arabia 2024 has attracted around 700 exhibitors and yet all three events, i.e. Jewellery Arabia, Cityscape and Scent Arabia 2024 only occupied 70 per cent of the capacity. This means that EWB has the capacity to host mega shows and event, and efforts are on to enhance the scope of the private sector, in this case EWB, to work side by side with the Government to bolster the tourism sector.”
