Participants at the legal session in the National Dialogue agreed on consensus on the formation of a Supreme Council for Journalists comprising of a judge, a member of the Bahrain Journalists Association, a member of the Bahrain Bar Association and an owner of a publishing house to prosecute journalist in case of press offenses.
Journalist Mohammed Al Ahmed from Bahrain Journalist Association said that the Supreme Council for Journalism would also issues license for new journalists.
He added that participants also agreed on consensus on not imprisoning journalists, affirming that Bahraini laws stated that journalists must not abuse their professional position for their own purposes, asserting that at the end the journalist is a citizen and not the above law.
