The Government of Bahrain has expressed its regret that one of the three men who delivered the dead body of the 14-year-old boy, Ali Jawad Ahmad, to the medical centre in Sitra in the North-East of the country on 31st August, has fled the country. The man refused to give his identity when he and two others left the body at the medical centre, despite requests by police for an explanation of what happened.
The Government of Bahrain has promised to investigate the tragic and unexplained death of Ali Jawad Ahmad, and has offered a reward for information relating to the incident of 10,000 Bahraini Dinars (approximately $27,000).
Despite claims that Ali Jawad Ahmad died as a result of being hit by a gas canister at a demonstration, official and independent autopsy, as well as the coroners reports, indicates that the teenager had multiple wounds that could not have been caused in such manner.
“The sad and tragic death of Ali Jawad Ahmad is still unexplained, and the Government of Bahrain is determined to find out exactly what happened to the boy. It is wrong for people to use this incident for political ends. The Government has nothing to hide, but it is unfortunate that the three men wanted for questioning in this incident failed to give their identities at the time and one has since fled the country. The boy’s family deserves more respect,” said an IAA official.
