The Public Security and law enforcing agencies managed to foil attempt of vandals to create chaos by blocking main roads in Manama and adjoining areas on Saturday, according to officials.
Deputy Head of Public Security today stated that a group of vandals conducted sabotage and riots in some areas of the kingdom targeting some of the main roads by throwing garbage and oil on the road that endanger the safety of citizens and residents.
Moreover, this also affected the flow of traffic and security forces interacted with them following the regulations and laws thus retaining with that the flow of traffic in all areas. He also thanked citizens and residents for their cooperation with the security personnel and their following to the traffic directions that the traffic police to regain the easy flow of traffic.
Long queues of vehicles were seen in the worst affected areas like Jidhafs, Sanabis, Saar and main roads in Manama and the public security was quick to clearup the mess created by burning of tyres and rubbish bins used by the vandals as road blockades in many parts of cities in an around capital city of Manama.
In a statement issued by the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) it said that isolated disturbances took place in several areas around Bahrain on Saturday as groups of vandals attempted to disrupt traffic on major roads on the last day of the weekend in Bahrain.
“Small groups scattered trash and threw trash bins and dumpsters on roads in an attempt to block traffic. Police were particularly concerned to discover that the groups had poured grease on the roads, creating dangerous conditions for motorists,” the statement said.
“Police mobilized quickly to contain the vandalism and arrest those responsible. Police established numerous roadblocks and directed motorists to alternate routes for several hours on Saturday. No figures for arrests were immediately available, but government officials said that any charges will be based on laws prohibiting vandalism, sabotage, and endangering public safety,” the IAA statement added.
