The Ministry of Housing expressed its surprise on claims made by some quarters that it had deliberately shelved the housing schemes for the citizens of Riffa and Isa Town areas by cutting the proposed housing units from 1800 units to only 660 units.
The Ministry in a statement on Saturday said that the claims were baseless and comes at a time when the housing issue is witnessing great improvements on all levels of housing projects especially those in Buhair area that the ministry was in the process of undertaking in partnership with the private sector.
The statement also affirmed the great care that the ministry had placed in this project in fulfilling housing requirements. Moreover, this project includes the building of 660 social housing units, 291 economical housing units during its first phase while in the second phase 400 housing units would be built. The statement urged the citizens to avoid spreading rumours and misleading information and attaining the information from its official source.
