A number of the National Commission charged with following up the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) members met with Mark Muller and his accompanying delegation from the British InterMediate Organisation, currently on a visit to the Kingdom.
During the meeting, held upon request from the visiting delegation, the duties of the National Commission and its work teams, as well as the steps taken so to implement BICI recommendation 1725 (b) regarding the development of a national reconciliation programme.
Members of the British Intermediate Organisation gave a presentation about the programmes they conducted and their expertise in facilitating dialogue and reconciliation in a number of countries such as South Africa and Finland.
Members of the National Commission asserted that dialogue is an on-going process in the Kingdom that is based on consensus and responds to all positive initiatives, highlighting the need to take advantage of successful international experiences in order to expedite national reconciliation.
National Commission members Abdulla Al Dirazi, Ahmed Al Saati, Dr. Abdulaziz Abul, Issam Fakhro and Farid Ghazi took part in the meeting.
