A two-phase plan has been set up by the Labour Ministry to address the issue of dismissals, Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan said.
In the first phase, the Ministry will ensure that mega companies reinstate their dismissed staff according to the standards recommended by the government, and without any unjust conditions such as the signing of new contracts or warnings, while in the second, Insurance Against Un-employment allowances will be paid retro-actively to all those dismissed, including trade unionists, he added.
Humaidan also affirmed that the Labour Ministry has taken major steps, in cooperation with the National Commission in Charge of Following up the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) in order to close the dismissals file, upon directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, on the need to reinstate dismissed employees as soon as possible, for national interests.
He also asserted that 1350 dismissed workers and 50 trade unionists will benefit from the Insurance Against Un-employment, stressing that there are no clear reasons hindering the reinstatement of all dismissed staff, in light of the government’s instructions preventing conditional reinstatement.
He also called workers and employers to cooperate in order to finalise the reinstatement procedures so as to ensure that economic development is back on track.
