UNIDO’s General Director Dr. Kamdehkolleh Yumkella affirmed that Kingdom of Bahrain was positioned to become a regional headquarters for green technologies that would serve Middle East countries and North Africa towards supporting sustainable growth and development.
Dr Yumkella said the preference for Bahrain to host the headquarters was due to its historical constituents, hospitality and the adopting of environmental initiatives.
He said Bahrain also served as a commercial hub for the region making it a modern front preferred by many different expatriates over the centuries.
Dr Yumkella was speaking during a press conference on the sidelines of the opening of the 1st International Forum for Green Technologies 2012.
He also expressed his hope on the construction of a national centre for clean production within companies that includes water management and limiting of pollution.
