The Secretary-General condemns the bomb attack which recently took place in the vicinity of the village of Eker, Bahrain, injuring several policemen. In a statement he also remained concerned by the excessive use of force against protestors which continues to result in civilian casualties.
He appealed to all sides to act with restraint and refrain from violence. The fundamental human rights of the Bahraini people, including the right to peaceful protest, must be respected.
He firmly believed that an all inclusive and meaningful national dialogue that addresses the legitimate aspirations of all Bahrainis will go a long way to promote peace and stability in the country.
