During a workshop organized by Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), on the impact of constitutional amendments on the political system, as the first session which aims to promote the culture of democracy, Chairwoman of Legislative and Legal Affairs’ Committee in the Shura Council Dalal Jassim Al-Zayyed stressed that the constitutional amendments and ratifications on them will create a balance between the legislative and executive authorities, which will be reflected on the citizen’s political stability, and, therefore, on the social and economic daily life.
Al-Zayyed said that the constitutional amendments will enable the citizen to follow up and evaluate the performance of the elected members of the House of Representatives, with transparency, when they practice monitoring the interrogation sessions, after which the citizen may judge the seriousness of his representative.
Al-Zayyed explained that the initiative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to propose constitutional amendments based on the National Action Charter and National Consensus Dialogue enhances confidence among all parties, and proves that the Royal initiative is a clear indication of the real desire to find further reform and democracy. She added that it has become imperative to work on a strategy targeting preparation for establishing a healthy policy to ensure raising a generation who can realize the notion of practicing the institutional and political action.
It is worth to mention that the workshop was attended by a very high number of various components of Bahraini society.
The BIPD’s Executive Director Dr. Isa Ahmad Khayyat announced that the BIPD would organize another workshop during current week due to the high number of attendants.
The BIPD will also organize on Saturday the 12th of May a workshop under the title of (Cultural of Human Rights) at the Institute’s Headquarter in Um Al Hassam.
