On the sidelines of the UN Conference on Public Service, the Kingdom of Bahrain participated with an official delegation comprising the Electronic Government Authority (the EGA) CEO Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed and the Government Subsidies Projects managing director Nizar Maaroof, in a series of events organized in New York City met with international presence of ministers and UN officials and experts of public service and IT technology.
Al-Qaed presented a working paper in which he spoke to the debating session about best practices and international expertise, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience and the EGA’s new strategy 2012-2016 as well as strategic vision and goals, beneficiary parties, major performance indicators of the EGA and explained the required duration.
Al-Qaed also elaborated on most significant factors which contributed to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s accomplishing advanced levels in terms of electronic government culminating in acquiring a series of international awards and certifications the most recent of which was the UN Public Service Award 2012.
Al-Qaed also explained latest initiatives launched by the EGA recently such as the introduction of electronic passwords, Mobile Applications and various facilities in order to provide easy, speedy, safer and more secure access for all clients of the EGA.
The Electronic Government Authority (EGA) was created by Royal Decree No.: (69) in August 2007 and is affiliated with the Council of Ministers (the Cabinet) and aims at coordinating and implementing the government’s electronic projects in line with ambitious strategies, plans and programs which included the provision of 200 services to Bahraini citizens and residents under the supervision of the Higher Commission for IT Technology presided over by Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
