Under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Energy, and Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority the Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement with JGC Gulf International (JGULF) for debottlenecking of both processing trains at the Central Gas Plant for a value of $15.42million.
At a ceremony held on at the NOGA Headquarters the EPC agreement was signed by Wedad Al-Maskati, Vice Chairman, on behalf of Banagas and Tadao Takahashi, President and CEO, on behalf of JGC Gulf.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from both companies.
The project is designed to facilitate increased Feed gas rate up to 18 MMSCFD from the Bahrain Petroleum Refinery and maximize liquid recovery by 4500 BPD. The project involves replacement of pumps, construction of additional Heat Exchangers and resizing of certain vessels.
Mechanical work on the project is expected to be completed in 23 months with commissioning and startup scheduled for May 2014.
A previous EPC contract was awarded to JGULF in August 2011 for construction of a new compressor station, including gas gathering and transmission lines and a new Central Control Center, for a value of $42.4 million.
This will help ensure continuous handling of up to 310 MMSCFD of associated and refinery off gas.
