Minister of Human Rights Affairs, Dr. Salah Bin Ali Abdul Rahman received in his office the Irish Ambassador to Bahrain, Dr Niall Holohan, where he welcomed him and stressed the strength of the historical friendly relations between Bahrain and Ireland.
Dr. Salah reinforced that Kingdom of Bahrain is looking forward to strengthen the coordination areas with Ireland, particularly in the area of human rights, to contribute in consolidating the institutional and administrative capabilities and develop the performance of the rights action in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Dr. Salah thanked the Irish Ambassador on behalf of his country’s stance which highly considers the achievement gained in the Kingdom of Bahrain concerning Human Rights, pointing out that the Irish experience in the area of human rights is worthy of study and be applied in all various fields related to Bahrain.
The Minister asserted Bahrain’s leadership of respecting the rule of law in all the state institutions, while some forces who seek crisis inside and outside Bahrain created speeches of incitement and hatred and directed them towards youth to make them slide into road violence, and harming which claimed people’s lives, and public and private properties.
“The government has initiated, through the Ministry of Education, the implementation of important recommendations, that are contained in the report of the Independent Commission of Inquiry, concerned with integrating human rights programmes in the educational curricula in collaboration with UNESCO,” the Minister said.
Dr. Salah pointed out the intention of University of Bahrain to establish a center for studying human rights for the students of the college of law, highlighting that this would develop the academic qualification and the human rights training in the higher education institutions, and supports the other government institutions. He said that Bahrain will soon celebrate the 100 anniversary of the establishment of official education.
The minister also presented a brief about the litigation in Bahraini Courts, and the human rights standards applied in that regard, stressing the independence of the judiciary authority in line with the principle of separation of powers.
Both sides asserted the importance of discarding violence and fanaticism, and join a comprehensive national dialogue that contain all the society’s components without exclusion of one party at the expense of another, and imposing preconditions in order to get out of the current crisis.
The Irish Ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Minister of Human Rights Affairs for the kind hospitality, pointing out the cooperation and coordination opportunities between the two countries in the area of human rights for the interest of the society.
