Human Rights Minister, Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman, will take part in a conference that will be organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Regional Office for Arab States in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, from November 26 to 29.
The event is being held as part of the regional governing management week function, under the theme “Social Accountability in a Changing Region-Active Parties and Mechanisms”.
The conference will spotlight many issues pertaining to human rights and fighting corruption and their practical value in national reforms.
The Human Rights Minister will review Bahrain’s experience with the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), being the first country to be subject to the new UPR mechanism four years ago.
Bahrain’s human rights and civilizational achievements have been brought under the spotlight while many other countries benefited from the kingdom’s experience with the Universal Periodic Review of its human rights record at the Human Rights Council recently.
The Human Rights Minister lauded the key role of UNDP Regional Office, describing its branch in Bahrain as a strategic partner in promoting human rights through various programmes and initiatives.
