Foreign Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, took part in Doha in the ministerial meeting of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee, in the presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to follow-up regional developments as well as an update of the Palestinian Cause.
Addressing the session, the minister congratulated President Abbas and the Palestinian people on the admission of Palestine as a non-Member Observer State, describing the achievement as a step forward towards establishing an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Shaikh Khalid stressed the necessity to maintain the Arab Peace Initiative as an Arab strategic option to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region. The pan-Arab roadmap requires Israel to meet its obligations in conformity with the international resolutions and peace parameters.
Shaikh Khalid also attended the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee on Syria to discuss current developments, explore means of achieving Syrians’ ambitions and coordinate a unified pan-Arab stances ahead of the 4th Friends’ of Syria Conference, scheduled to be held in Marrakech on December12.
