The Deputy Attorney-General, Mohammed Salah, confirmed that the Public Prosecution began thorough investigation into the case of riots which broke out in Manama last Friday (25 January 2013), adding that the Public Prosecution has interrogated 28 suspects in the presence of their attorneys and ordered their precautionary incarceration for interrogation purposes.
Mohammed Salah said that investigations revealed that the acts of rioting committed by the accused came in response to invitations on social media websites which urged them to take to the streets in Manama and that about 100 rioters had assembled in response to these invitations thus hampering roads traffic flow, scaring shoppers, blocking shops and resisting law enforcement officers who in the end were able to subdue and arrest 28 of the rioters.
