LMRA Chief Executive Officer Osama Abdulla Al-Absi, who chaired a tripartite committee meeting in charge of reviewing the rate of Bahrainisation, announced that the percentage of Bahrainisation would be reconsidered following directives from the political leadership to promote productivity and boost the national economy.
The meeting discussed the requirements of different businesses, including beauty parlours, training, human resources development, education, advertising, exhibitions and conferences, information technologies and telecommunications.
He stressed the LMRA-led efforts in cooperation with other market partners to set up the best system in line with the law, and without compromising the interests of any part.
The commission features officials representing the Labour Ministry, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Labour Market regulatory Authority.
Al-Absi chaired the meeting, in the presence of BCCI First Deputy Chairman Ibrahim Mohammed Zainal and committee members.
He also commended traders for their cooperation in employing Bahrainis and giving them the priority as the first choice.
BCCI First Deputy Chairman Ibrahim Mohammed Zainal stressed the need of reviewing the rates of Bahrainisation in different sectors taking into account changes.
He pointed out that the current rates of Bahrainisation were last updated four years ago.
The session approved the proposed rates of Bahrainisation for the above-mentioned sectors. The tripartite committee would convene another meeting to update the rates of Bahrainisation for other key economic sectors.
