The National Consensus Dialogue, on the political theme witnessed discussions on the suggestions presented by the sessions’ moderators to push forward the deliberations among the participants.
After an exchange of views about the suggestions, the participants agreed to deliberate the phrase “Consensus reached by the participants represents a committed and comprehensive final agreement that includes certain provisions for constitutional amendments, laws or procedures that are referred to His Majesty the King” at the next session to be held on Sunday 31 March.
The moderators presented three suggestions to assist the participants to continue in a positive and productive way. The suggestions include to consider the discussion of this point as unresolved and to postpone it to a coming session to be decided by all participants, in accordance with paragraph 6 of the mechanisms for running the sessions, and to continue to discuss the document that contains nine points, starting with the third one; to consider that the concept of re-discussing this point hasn’t reached consensus and to continue to discuss the document that contains nine points starting with the third one and move to discuss the document presented by the coalition of societies on 13 February.
The participants agreed to adjourn the session for ten minutes for deliberations on the three suggestions, of which initially they chose the first one to rephrase it in such a way that the agreement of all the participants was reached.
The beginning of the session witnessed the consensus of the participants on a suggestion, presented by the moderators, to consider the discussion of the second point of the document presented by the six political societies, tabled on 28 January, as unresolved and to postpone it to the session to be held on 31 March, and to continue discussing the third and following points of the same document.
The moderators submitted the suggestions based on previous sessions, especially the eighth session held on 17 March, as many topics focused on the second point of the document of the six political societies that was tabled on 18 January.
Some of the participants felt that this point had been finalised in the session held on 13 February, while reaching consensus that “the leadership is part of the Dialogue”. Others felt that the previous consensus was preliminary. From this the moderators came up with the suggestion to the participants to continue with the Dialogue with positive and productive sentiments.
The participants agreed to hold a meeting for the working group to discuss the third point mentioned above and other documents presented by the participants on Wednesday 27 March.
