Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan attended the annual celebrations of Labour Day organised by the Indian community at the Indian club, according to a report published by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
During the ceremony, the Labour Minister made a statement in which he praised the deep-rooted outstanding Bahraini-Indian relations and joint cooperation between the two friendly peoples.
He lauded the key role played by the Indian manpower to the Kingdom’s nation-building and renaissance, noting that Indian workers are the most productive, hard-working and organised among expat employees, and therefore, always enjoy the appreciation of the government and the Bahraini people.
Minister Humaidan added that the Government of Bahrain was keen to protect the rights of expatriate workers, especially Indian ones, pointing out to the Labour Ministry’s constant keenness to ensure that their labour achievements and rights are protected, in line with the Labour Law in the Private Sector and international labour standards.
The Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Mohan Komar commended the efforts of the Labour Ministry and Humaidan himself to protect the rights of the expatriate labour force in the Kingdom.
He affirmed that Bahrain was best regional destination for Indian workers thanks to its worker-protecting legislations and laws, hailing the key role played by the Labour Ministry and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in implementing labour laws.
The Head of the Tamil Social and Cultural Association also spoke during the ceremony, asserting that the members of the Tamil community are delighted for working in Bahrain and contributing to all its economic and urban projects.
He added that the Kingdom enjoyed a distinguished position in the region in the labour field thanks to its respect for the expatriate labour force and the secure environment ensured for all communities.
