His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Deputy of His Majesty the King, Crown Prince, who visited the National Audit Court, underscored the national and ethical responsibility of protecting public money and combating all forms of administrative and financial corruption.
His Royal Highness noted that the importance is not simply in creating plans, but also in implementing them and developing systems of accountability to monitor the government’s performance in order to reduce waste and inefficiency.
His Royal Highness also said that protecting public money is connected to the good management of budgets and utilising public funds. His Royal Highness highlighted the example of the National Audit Court as an organisation that has resulted from the National Charter Activation Committee. It is considered an important feature of His Majesty the King’s reform programme and as a tool to continue reforms. His Royal Highness expressed his wholehearted support for the organisation’s work in improving governmental performance.
During his visit, His Royal Highness met His Excellency Hassan bin Khalifa Al Jalahma, the chairman, and a group of seniors officials who presented His Royal Highness with the Office’s missions and plans for monitoring financial and administrative performance and detecting irregularities.
His Royal Highness noted the NAC role in directing public spending and monitoring performance in the interests of the nation and its citizens. His Royal Highness also underlined the importance of following up on the reports issued by the Office, as these reports can provide indicators to support best practices and address any cases of administrative or financial corruption. These reports also assure transparency and accountability for any irregularities in proceedings by providing clear methods of implementation and follow up.
His Royal Highness went on to highlight some of the Office’s annual procedures and recommendations, and the level of governmental cooperation in protecting public money.
His Royal Highness further emphasised his support for the Office’s tasks and work in building a culture of accountability. This is in addition to finding more opportunities for cooperative initiatives within the government, such as the Office’s role in improving governmental performance in light of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa the Prime Minister’s directions and follow up.
The Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness for his visit, in addition to His Royal Highness’ care and support for the Office and its reports. His Excellency the Minister also noted that this visit represented an opportunity to receive His Royal Highness directions on the Office’s work and its relations with other governmental entities.
