Speaker of the Representatives Council Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani said anyone provokes others into chaos, violence and violating law and order will stand before the law. And the withdrawal of any social or political group from the Parliament is considered a strategic mistake, noting that the opposition must operate within the constitutional institutions but not through street violence escalation.
Al-Dhahrani’s statement published by the BNA quoting a local newspaper said that the real community partnership requires positive actions harmonize with democratic bases. He said HM the King’s reform project have opened new horizons for the right of expression of opinion, which should be practiced in accordance with the law, constitution and legal institutions.
He denied that the national dialogue has marginalized the work of the Legislative Council, adding that any resolutions reached by the national dialog will be approved by the legislative institutions. He stressed that the national dialogue is a comprehensive dialogue includes all political parties in Bahrain and it is a proper opportunity to contribute to support the process of reform and development.
He noted the House has approved several law drafts and proposals underscore the importance of maintaining security and stability, protection of the national gains and achievements and promotion of national unity.
He said the Kingdom of Bahrain is a State of institutions and law, and the legislative authority, House of Representative and Shura Council, is a constitutional authority of legislative and regulative powers gained by the Constitution. Any amendments, changes or developments of legislation and regulations must be made through legislative authority institutions, which are represented in the national dialogue, and can’t be disregarded.
The House Speaker called for all parties participating in the dialogue to confirm clear and serious intentions to ensure a successful national dialogue, and respecting constitutional institutions, collective cooperation and considering homeland’s interests over party’s ones will assist in overcoming all challenges for better future.
He affirmed the 2012 constitutional amendments gave the elected House of Representatives more power and pushed the Kingdom to a new democratic level.
He concluded the Parliament Council has discussed the press law and it is keen to exchange views and visions with Bahrain Journalists Association and other media institutions on press and publication law.
