Chief Prosecutor and Head of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Nawaf Abdullah Hamza, said, within the follow-up of the Special Investigation Unit to news and contents published on websites, it observed the news published on the BBC website that said the sentenced Mohammed Mirza was not a violent protester and two absentia judgments were issued against him, the first in November 2011 where he was sentenced for two-year imprisonment on charges of participation in illegal gathering, and the second on 24 January 2012 when he was sentenced for three-month imprisonment in a similar case. He was arrested in June 2012, two weeks after he was shot in the back, as he told his parents, during visiting him in prison; he was beaten by the police.
The SIU immediately after observing the news mentioned summoned the prisoner from his cell at the Reform and Rehabilitation Management to listen to his comments about what was published, but he refused attending the session, and another session was set.
The SIU requested all cases related to the prisoner from the Public Prosecution, when he was charged with eight cases, four of which took place in 2010, in which he was charged with setting fire and participation in gathering and rioting, the Public Prosecution then sent him to be examined by a coroner, who did not confirm any kind of injuries then. Then the prisoner was included in a Royal pardon after he was referred to court.
He was sentenced in absentia in the remaining four cases and received varying punishments ranging from three months imprisonment to two years on charges of participating in illegal gatherings, rioting and possession of Molotov cocktails, and neither he nor his lawyer raised a complaint about being beaten or ill-treated.
The Special Procedures Form, for the receipt of the sentenced for the execution of his sentence, on 30 June 2013 in the Reform and Rehabilitation Management, proved that he was not exposed to visible injuries on his body, and he had personally acknowledged then that he did not suffer any health problems.
