Shaikh Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, who presented a paper during “Young leaders Conference” which held in Brussels stressed that Kingdom of Bahrain thanks to His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, has achieved remarkable democratic transformations.
Shaikh Abdullah said that these transformations were based on the public will, and embodied in adopting the National Action Charter in 2001 with a rate amounted to 98.4%.
Shaikh Abdullah said that Kingdom of Bahrain has introduced a model in public freedoms, and reforms, and highlighted that the government of Bahrain at the same time continued in achieving high development rates in all areas and provided decent living for all citizens.
Shaikh Abdullah, who is a researcher in the field of international relations and international law, said that democracy and reforms in Kingdom of Bahrain and GCC states have witnessed serious steps towards reform, which vary from one country to the other.
Shaikh Abdullah said that the European Union institutions’ concern with supporting freedoms and democracy in the world is considered a positive issue, but they have fallen victim to exploiting some of those who have links to those institutions for this support to cripple the occurrence of the positive change which suits the Gulf community, and consolidates the culture of democracy. He said that they attempted to introduce the sectarian alternative at the expense of the national expense.
Shaikh Abdullah expressed his astonishment on the contents of the last statement of the European Parliament concerning the conditions of human rights in Bahrain, highlighting that they counted on non-neutral sources.
Shaikh Abdullah also addressed the cooperation areas between GCC states and the European Union in line with the 25th anniversary of signing the joint cooperation agreement in Luxembourg in 1988.
