A detainee, Ali Isa Saqer, 31, who murdered policemen, died at the detention centre on Saturday, the General Director of Muharraq Governorate Police said.
He was arrested with charges of attempted murder of policemen while trying to run over them by his car and ended up hitting one of the protesters on 13 March 2011.
The police said that the suspect created chaos at the detention center and that led to the interference of security forces to bring situation to normal, but he resisted them and sustained various injuries in the process.
He was referred to the hospital and died later.
The Public Prosecutor Office was notified and medical examiner was asked to come to examine the body and determined the cause of the death.
Another detainee died of complications of sickle cell anemia
Another detainee, Zakariya Rashid Hassan, 40, a sickle cell anemia patient was found dead on Saturday morning at the detention centre, the Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Interior has said.
He was arrested on 2 April 2011 with charges of incitement of hatred and publishing false news, promoting sectarianism and calling for overthrowing of the regime thorough e-forums.
The Assistant Undersecretary said that the Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified and he was referred to the hospital, in which the medical examiner affirmed that his death was related to complications of sickle cell anemia.
