Authorities have managed to identify and defuse a booby-trapped car averting a possible disaster in the heart of Manama, the capital city of the Kingdom of Bahrain, according to an official statement.
The statement added that policemen had spotted two suspicious cars as they were parked at two different places in Manama.
It may be recalled that a similar attack had caused panic during a blast outside a mosque in Riffa area during Traweeh Prayers in Ramadan this year.
“Upon initial investigations, the two vehicles turned out to be stolen vehicles,” Capital Police Director-General, said.
The anti-terror squad and the anti-explosive experts searched the two cars and defused the home-made bombs, which were planted in one of the vehicles.
Civil Defence units had also to intervene to assist in defusing the booby-trapped car.
Forensic experts rushed to the scene and collected fingerprints and evidence to identify the perpetrators of the heinous act, which aimed at terrorizing innocent people, and bring them to justice.
Capital Police Director-General called on the public to report any suspicious cars to the nearest police station or on hotline 80008008
