MANAMA: HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister on Sunday gave directives to the Ministry of Health to follow up on the spreading of the Virus Corona, and to exert more efforts to keep the Kingdom free of the virus.
The Official Government Spokesperson and State Minister for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab told reporters during weekly post Cabinet meeting briefing that HRH Prime Minister, who chaired the regular Cabinet session, praised the speech of HM the King on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day and HM’s support for freedom of expression and opinion as an integral part of the reform process, as well as HM’s emphasis on the importance of establishing media personnel housing which the government will speed up its implementation.
HRH lauded the “Sword of Abdulla” drill, as it reflected the readiness to defend the security of the region and its unity.
HRH also welcomed the successful visit of HRH the Crown Prince to Russia. It resulted in important political discussions and the signing of important agreements.
HRH welcomed the important visits of the King of Spain and the President of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain highlighting cooperation relations with the rest of the world.
Memorandums of Understanding related to the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs
The Cabinet discussed and approved the memorandum presented by His Excellency the Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs on the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, the Director of the UN News Center for the Gulf countries, and the Secretary-General of The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID).
The Memorandums of Understanding aim to ensure mutual respect and co-existence with the framework of dialogue between civilizations and human interaction.
The Cabinet discussed the memorandum presented by His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning on a draft law amending some provisions of Land Acquisition Law for public purposes.
The draft amendment aims to facilitate the procedures of land acquisition for public purposes in a manner that would speed up the implementation of the Kingdom’s National Plan and Development Strategy (NPDS), urban planning and the provision of necessary services to all areas like roads, facilities and connecting lands to public networks.
The Cabinet decided to refer the matter to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs for further review.
The Cabinet was notified of the approval of the Shura Council and Representatives Council of the following draft laws:
Draft law amending Article (9) of Law No. (11) for the year 1975 on passports.
Draft Law approving safety regulations for small cargo ships not covered by international maritime treaties in the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States (GCC).
Draft Law on the Issuance of Reform and Rehabilitation Institutions Law, and the proposed law on the regulation of penitentiary establishments.
Draft Law ratifying the protocol concerning the amendment of certain provisions of the Air Transport Agreement between the governments of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Morocco.
Draft Law ratifying the protocol concerning the Rules of Origin for the Trade Preferential System of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Member States.
Draft Law ratifying the Air Services Agreement between the governments of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Austria.
The decision of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives to adopt the final audit of the Future Generations’ Reserve Fund for the fiscal year ending on 31st of December 2012, conducted by the National Audit Court.
The Cabinet discussed a number of proposals submitted by the Council of Representative, namely:
The government to carry out a thorough study to find appropriate solutions for stalled construction projects in the private sector.
To activate the decisions concerning the cancellation of housing applications and deprivation of housing services from those who were proved to have submitted false, incorrect or fraudulent information at the time of application.
