MANAMA: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa on Thursday received Lieutenant-Colonel Abdulhakim Mohammed Al-Shenou, affiliate of BDF Military Sports Association, and congratulated him on his election as President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) in Quito, Ecuador.
Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Commander-in-Chief Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa attended the audience at Al-Safriya Palace. HM the King hailed the historic achievement as Lieutenant-Colonel Abdulhakim Mohammed Al-Shenou became the first Arab and Asian to chair the International Military Sports Council (CISM).
He described the honour as reflecting (CISM) members’ confidence in Bahraini competences to lead this international body as well as Bahrain’s standing in the international sport arenas. He took pride in the competence of Bahrainis to hold top international positions, commending the BDF affiliates for honouring Bahrain in international sport arenas, defending the nation and contributing to its security and progress. HM the King commended the BDF General Command, wishing Lieutenant-Colonel Abdulhakim Mohammed Al-Shenou every success.
