MANAMA: INJAZ Bahrain, a leading non-profit organization focused on youth economic empowerment, held its 7th “Company of the Year Competition” at the Diplomat Radisson, Hotel. The competition is INJAZ Bahrain’s annual celebration of the accomplishments of the students who have participated in the INJAZ Bahrain “the Company” Program.
The two-day event saw student teams aged 17-21 from institutions across Bahrain showcasing their entrepreneurial achievements. Overall, 11 teams competed in the competition, including 6 from secondary government schools, 3 teams from private schools, a team from the Gifted Center, and another team from Youth City.
“3 Dots” student company from Al Eman Private School took home first place in the competition, who received their trophies from Her Highness Shaikha Hessa Bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Executive Director of INJAZ Bahrain.
“Interactive Education” from The Bahrain Bayan School and “Noor” from Ahmed Al Omran Boys School placed second and third, respectively.
“Over the one year of the competition, the students showed dedication, devotion and passion towards their business ideas. Their ideas were not only innovative, but also demonstrated strategic thinking and a commitment towards creating goods and services that offer real added value to customers. We are immensely proud of our student teams and thankful to the Ministry of Education, GPIC and our strategic partners and volunteers for making this year’s competition the best one yet,” Her Highness Shaikha Hessa Bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Executive Director of INJAZ Bahrain said.
“This competition forms an excellent platform for students to explore team and leadership values. It forms a stepping stone for entering the business market and assist students in building relationships, instill new ideas and thinking, create a collaborative atmosphere between participating teams, and gives students the opportunity to learn more about assuming responsibility, striving for excellence as well as achieving personal and professional success,” she added.
As part of the program, students started and managed their own businesses with support from a volunteer from the local business communities where the students create and market their own products to realize profit for their shareholders.
The finalists showcased their enterprise and business acumen before a panel of independent judges who evaluated each company’s performance against the competition criteria.
As the winner of the local competition, the team from Al Eman Girls Private School will go on represent the Kingdom of Bahrain at the regional INJAZ AL ARAB competition, set to take place in Oman in December of this year.
