SANAD: The SME Development and Support Center and in coordination with the Food and Agriculture Committee headed by executive committee member Mr. Khalid Al Amin, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its Business Roundup event on Thursday 30th July 2015 at the Chamber’s premises in Sanabis and amidst wide participation of business owners, companies, officials, and related government and non-government bodies.
The event, which centered on the food and agriculture sector hosted both Mondelez (kraft) and Awal Food Factories, which exhibited investment and partnership opportunities in their companies amounting to 13 opportunities in various areas including the supply of ingredients such as milk, flour, flavors, and oil; and other areas such as packaging, storing, and distribution.
The event also included a symposium which gathered Bahrain Economic Development Board, Ministry of Health, and Customs Affairs of Ministry of interior with the business owners and entrepreneurs of the sector. The symposium discussed important topics to the sector including food security, the requirements and regulations for businesses in the sector, the inspection of food products and other related topics.
Coinciding the symposium was a mini-exhibition, which was held in the lobby of the Chamber, wherein participants from the sector exhibited their products and services alongside Tamkeen, Bahrain Development Bank, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and in the presence of Sh. Mohammed bin Issa Al Khalifa Chairman of Tamkeen, First and second vice-chairman to the Chamber Mr. Othman Alrayes and Mr. Jawad Al Hawaj respectively, Mr. Issa Alrefaei Treasurer, and a vast number of entrepreneurs.
CEO of the Chamber Nabeel Al Mahmood hailed the participants and attributed the success of the event to the participants and the organizers. He also emphasized the role of the Chamber’s SME Development and Support Center in promoting and supporting entrepreneurship, and its contribution to the private sector and the national economy. Al Mahmood revealed that similar events on other sectors are to be held and announced hereafter.
