MANAMA: United States Secretary of Defense James Mattis will deliver a major speech at the IISS Manama Dialogue on the morning of Saturday 27 October.
The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in a statement said that Secretary Mattis will assess the key security challenges facing the Middle East and the role that America has to play in addressing them.
The 14th IISS Manama Dialogue, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, will see over 50 government ministers and senior officials representing 25 nations from across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America gather to discuss the Middle East’s most pressing security challenges over three days (26 – 28 October).
“We are delighted to welcome the US Secretary of Defense to the IISS Manama Dialogue and know that James Mattis’ speech will be highly anticipated at a time when there are numerous challenges to the security and stability of the region,” Sir Tom Beckett, IISS-Middle East Executive Director, said.
