MANAMA: The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has confirmed that the value of bounced cheques decreased by 33.6% to BD 61 million during the first half of this year.
This is a clear indication of the banking facilities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the awareness of customers of the binding legal checks.
The CBB explained that the number of cheques returned during the first half of 2019 amounted to 46,654 cheques, which is 6.4% lower than the number of checks returned during the same period of 2018, which amounted to 49,857 cheques.
According to the latest data, the value of bank checks returned for reasons financials during the first half of this year amounted to BD 89.6 million, which is 38.2% lower than the value of checks returned for financial reasons during the same period of 2018, which amounted to about BD 145 million.
The CBB pointed out that the banking sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain is witnessing a clear improvement at all levels, whether at the level of banks and financial institutions or at the level of individuals, based on indicators that are monitored on a regular basis and are announced in a transparent manner.
