Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Ministry of Health has reported 721 COVID-19 new cases recorded on Monday, the second highest number of cases second day in a row. The number of the contact cases stood at 613, showing that the contact cases were showing a sharp increase in the past couple of days.
As the Kingdom continued to increase the number of tests on daily basis, the number of the new cases being detected is also on the rise, the statics released by the Ministry show.
Out of 12694 COVID-19 tests carried out on 13 September 2020, 721 new cases have been detected among 106 expatriate workers, 613 new cases are contacts of active cases, and 2 are travel related. There were 489 recoveries from the COVID19, taking the total number of recoveries to 53681, the Ministry has confirmed.
It is noteworthy that on Sunday, the number of new cases was 747 and contact cases were 633, both highest ever recorded in a single day since the pandemic hit the Kingdom.
The spike in deaths and number of cases is largely attributable to a deliberate non-compliance of the health and safety guidelines developed and implemented by the authorities.
The non-compliance of precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Health has enhanced the possibility of spreading of the virus among citizens at an alarming level.
The Ministry of Health stressed that it is the national responsibility of all to follow the precautionary health measures enacted by the government, which include vigilantly following social distancing guidelines, to ensure the mitigation of COVID-19 and the safety of the community.
The ministry highlighted that recent COVID-19 testing has indicated an increase in cases from contacts of active COVID-19 cases, particularly from family and social gatherings, leaving home for unnecessary reasons, and negligence when complying with the health measures and guidelines issued.
