The Interior Ministry today reaffirmed resolve to protect public liberties, particularly the freedom to perform religious ritual and hold processions and meetings in accordance with traditions.
In a statement issued by the BNA, the Ministry pledged to ensure appropriate conditions for these rituals to be performed.
“The small group which was dispersed last Sunday (June 7) exploited a religious event to stage protests, engage in acts of sabotage and block roads”, Assistant Undersecretary for legal affairs said. He also urged officials in charge of ma’atams to abide by the spirit of the religious event.
