IAA President visits various media establishments in Egypt
President of the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa on the sidelines of his visit to Egypt conducted a tour of the Public Inquiries Authority associated with the Egyptian Ministry of Information that is considered the official gateway to media and public relations in the country.
During his visit Shaikh Fawaz met with Ambassador Ismael Khayarat in the presence of the Head of the Foreign Media Huda Al Mazareeki and reviewed with them the activation of the protocol of media cooperation between the two countries. Moreover, both sides discussed bilateral cooperation between the IAA in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Public Inquiries Authority in Egypt.
Following that the IAA President along with the accompanying media delegation toured the various departments and sections of the authority and was briefed on the different media activities undertaken by the authority and the facilities being provided to foreign journalists and correspondence.
Its role in providing accurate information about Egypt internally and externally in addition to political education and awareness to citizens was also reviewed. Shaikh Fawaz hailed the media activities undertaken by the authority and its role as a national media centre in providing the necessary information.
The IAA President also paid a visit to Gulf Centre for Strategic Studies in Cairo during which he met with head of the centre Dr Omar Al Hassan along with professors and academic researchers.
Shaikh Fawaz was briefed on the centre’s activities and specialized studies published by it related to the GCC.
The IAA President hailed the role played by the centre as one the most prominent in the region and the outstanding studies and researches it publishes. Within this context Shaikh Fawaz affirmed the need to further bolster cooperation between the IAA and the centre to further reinforce the progress of the media sector. Moreover, he emphasised the importance of the centre in the decision making process and its support towards reform, development and advancement in societies and Arab countries.
In a separate meeting with heads of the centre, the IAA President said that the centre formed an establishment supporting and reinforcing modern media work with the publications it issues in addition to specialized research in the political, economic and social fields. During the meeting he spoke about the conspiracy that was plotted against the Kingdom of Bahrain harming its security and stability and causing fear to innocent people and violating human rights.
Several truths related to the crisis that Bahrain went through were also highlighted and the misleading information that was spread along with the procedures undertaken by the kingdom to ensure stability and security. Shaikh Fawaz also spoke about cooperation between the centre and the IAA in various media fields.
Meanwhile, “On TV” conducted a television interview with Shaikh Fawaz on the sidelines of the visit that involved the developments in the situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
