His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of the Royal Independent Investigation Commission (RIIC) launched to investigate events in Bahrain in February and March 2011.
He was speaking as he received today at Al-Safriya Palace Dr. Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni, Head of the Royal Independent Fact-Finding Commission. HM King Hamad lauded the role of the commission members in the field of human rights, acknowledging their recognized expertise and competence in international human rights law.
He expressed his hope that the fact-finding commission would fulfill its mission fully and honour the desired goals set in the Royal Order for the sake of Bahrain’s progress and prosperity.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain is a country of law and institutions, always keen on guaranteeing human rights and dignity and firmly committed to all international laws, covenants and pacts”, he said.
Dr. Bassiouni took pride in the Royal assignment, looking forward, along with other commission members, to honoring this task for the pre-set goals to be fulfilled in total transparency and impartiality.
