Ithmaar Bank, an Islamic retail bank, has announced its sponsorship and support for Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Football Champion League for the Media which opened on Wednesday at the Khalifa Sports City near Isa Town Heritage Market. The football league matches will be played in the evening during the holy month of Ramadan.
The announcement was made at the presentation of a BD10, 000 sponsorship cheque by Juma Abull, Executive General Manager, Ithmaar Bank to Rashid Al Shaikh, Director of the Private Office of Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, at the Bank’s head office in Seef District. The presentation ceremony was attended also by Omar Bukamal, Head of the Championship Organizing Committee at Shaikh Khalid’s office.
“Ithmaar, being an Islamic bank and providing mainly retail banking services is conscious of its corporate social responsibility and firmly believes in the principle of a true partnership with the local community as well as contributing towards the overall development and progress of our society,” Abull said.
“Ithmaar Bank always supports activities which are for the uplift of individuals in our society, including sports that encourage people to participate in healthy activities and promote teamwork. The Bank also supports the news media and those running it, in all its forms and shapes. Ithmaar Bank had previously sponsored a number of sports and club activities in Bahrain as part of its humble contribution towards the Bahraini society,” he added.
Abull expressed his pleasure over Ithmaar Bank’s support for the football league, which is the first ever initiative in Bahrain to bring people from the media industry into playing a competitive sport in the public arena. He wished success to the organizers and participants of the football league.
Rashid Al Shaikh, Director of the Private Office of Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, expressed his gratitude to the Bank’s management for its support for the football league.
“Ever since the football league was announced, it received tremendous support from the local media and the corporate sector alike. Citing the great public interest in the event, the football league may also be held in the future,” he added.
