With a sales turnover of nearly $70 billion and profits of $1.7 billion for the year 2010-11, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) announced the launch of its Bahrain operations under the brand name of Servo.
“The launch of Servo lubricants in Bahrain is a major milestone not only in the growth of the Servo brand internationally, but also in the emergence of Indian Oil as a global energy brand,” GC Daga, the Marketing Director of IOC told the media at the launch of Servo in Bahrain.
“We are indeed very happy to commence our business in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which in a short span of just a few decades has emerged as a vibrant economic hub, making its presence felt on the global platform,” he said.
Our Middle East subsidiary, IOC Middle East, is spearheading the company’s business initiatives in West Asia, including Servo brand. Backed by blending arrangements at Dubai, Servo already has footprints in several West Asian Markets, including UAE, Oman and Qatar. Servo lubricants will now be available in 20 international markets.
“As you are aware, India has symbiotic association with Bahrain, having forged strong ties in trade and economy as well as in other fields. I am confident that Servo will take this association even further, and will be the precursor for many more such business ties between Bahrain and India.
In the past four decades, Servo has grown to be the leading lubricants brand in India, which is one of the fastest growing economies of the world, registering spectacular growth in several key sectors. Servo has also carved out a significant niche in several international markets, with strong presence in Africa, South-East Asia and West Asia.
“Servo brings with it the expertise of Indian Oil Corporation, India’s largest commercial enterprise and the highest ranked Indian company among the top 100 global corporate. As India’s flagship downstream oil and gas major, Indian Oil accounts for nearly half of its oil and gas consumption. It owns and operates 10 refineries, with a refining capacity of 1.3 million barrels per day. Indian Oil reaches petroleum products to every nook and corner of the country through nearly 37,000 customer touch points and a 10,000 km pipelines network.
Obviously, our growth could not have been possible without the support and active contribution of our business partners. IOC Middle East has entered into an alliance with the reputed Al Mana group for marketing Servo lubricants in Bahrain. They are also our business partners in Qatar. In Oman, where we are consolidating our business, SERVO lubricants are being marketed through APC’s exhaustive chain of spare parts outlets.
“We have estimated the total lubricants market potential of Bahrain to be around 15 million liters. To begin with, SERVO will offer automotive and industrial lubricants and greases in the Bahrain market. In the automotive sector, Servo has an unbeatable range covering engine oils, gear oils, transmission oils, coolants, brake fluids and greases,” he said.
“In Bahrain, we look forward to a long-lasting association with the Al Mana Group to take the Servo brand further among the discerning customer base in the country,” he added.
