VentureComs, which develops and distributes applications for mobile phones, has signed an agreement with Bahrain’s Labour Fund known as Tamkeen. The agreement will pave the way for creating high-quality Bahraini jobs in the coming years. The signing took place during a business road-show led by the Economic Development Board (EDB) to the United Kingdom between the 10th and 14th of October to promote Bahrain as a preferred business destination.
VentueComs is an exclusive distributor for leading European and US mobile content providers and in-house developed applications. The agreement will enable the company to cater for the requirement for a regional developer of mobile applications in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The agreement, which was facilitated by EDB, is set to boost the Kingdom’s growing ICT sector, creating both specialist jobs within the sector and within supporting divisions, including sales and back office support.
“We are delighted to welcome VentureComs to Bahrain. Creating high-quality jobs for all Bahrainis depends upon a thriving private sector and it is businesses like VentureComs that will provide Bahrain’s highly skilled and creative workforce with the opportunities they need to fulfil their potential,” Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al-Khalifa, Chief Executive of the EDB, said.
“We are hopeful that VentureComs’ presence in Bahrain will create jobs not only through direct employment, but also through the benefits that it will provide to other companies in the sector as its business expands,” Shaikh Mohammed, who is also Chairman of Tamkeen, added.
The Bahraini delegation also participated in “Bahrain Trade and Investment Seminar”, where Shaikh Mohammed, Ambassador Alice Samaan, and Dr. Esam Fakhro shared an insight political and macro-economic overview of Bahrain. Participating in a second part of the seminar were Dr. Samer Al Jishi, Hazem Janahi, Rebecca Topping, and Vivian Jamal. Both sessions included discussions on the recent developments in Bahrain and the region, and the investment opportunities available for UK firms in the Kingdom.
Bahrain boasts the Middle East’s most liberal and advanced ICT infrastructure and policies. The Kingdom has one of the highest mobile and internet penetration rates in the region and is also home to Skype’s representative office for the Middle East and Africa region and the regional offices of Huawei Technologies.
