Taiwan with over $5 billion annual trade with the GCC is keen to enhance the trade, investment and commercial ties with the Gulf as a bloc, according to a representative of Taiwan Trade Centre.
“We have just $30 million exports to Bahrain last year and we are keen to improve these ties in the light of $5 billion trade with the GCC as bloc,” Tom Tung-Chung Tseng,” Director at Taiwan Trade Centre Dubai, told the 24X7 News on the sidelines of Taiwan Catalogue Expo in Manama.
Over 500 Taiwanese companies are taking part in the First Taiwan Catalogue Show being held at the Bahrain chamber of commerce and industry.
“Taiwan with over $380 million dollars total trade with Bahrain is keen to enhance its existing trade, investment and commercial ties with Bahrain,” Paul Y.F.Hsu, Taiwanese Representative in Bahrain said.
“This is the first time that we are inviting companies to showcase the sir products and services in Bahrain and we are encouraged with the response of the participating companies,” he added.
The expo was opened by the chairman of the BCCI Dr Esam Abdulla Fakhro in the presence of the board members, businessmen and private sector representatives.
The Expo is being held at Beit Al-Tijjar Tower in co-operation with the Taiwanese Trade Centre in Dubai and the Trade Mission of Taiwan to Bahrain. More than 500 Taiwanese companies representing different commercial, industrial and tertiary sectors are taking part – including furniture, metallurgy, energy technologies, construction, petrochemical industries, food processing industries, manufacturing and garment industries. BCCI board members, businessmen and representatives of Bahrain-based trade companies attended the opening ceremony.
