Dr Al-Jishi calls for establishing ad-hoc parliamentary panels

Shura Council’s second deputy chairperson Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi called for the establishing of ad-hoc parliamentary panels in order to ensure keeping MPs informed and up to date with regard to UN resolutions and to follow up the implementation of UN resolutions and boost contacts between MPs and the United Nations.

Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi participated in the 66th UN General Assembly meeting held in New York within the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation. The first session was allocated for boosting international accountability and discussed the issue of relations between MPs and the UN’s General Assembly role in international accountability in order to ensure practical application of UN resolutions.

The first session commended the Kingdom of Bahrain’s proposal submitted by Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi in seeing mechanism in order to ensure women’s representation in the delegations participating in UN General Assembly Meetings. The second session discussed the issue of youth participation in the democratic process and the challenges and opportunities.

Dr. Al-Jishi reiterated the need to define the age of youth and childhood and the need to differentiate between the two definitions in view of their legal responsibilities and impact. Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi explored the Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience in terms of proper qualification of young Bahrainis in view of existing opportunities and remedying unemployment and empowering young people in order to be able to compete in the Labor Market and to realistically realize their aspirations as much as possible.

The Shura Council’s second deputy chairperson explored latest developments and their impact in the Kingdom of Bahrain and hailed the initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Monarch of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the formation of Bahrain’s Independent Commission of Inquiry presided over by Dr. Mohammed Sharif Bassiouni, praising at the same time the effective prompt response by the government presided over by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister through fruitful cooperation with the legislative authority represented in the Shura Council and the House of Representatives.

For the sake of supporting and developing the democratic process and reformation project and the Kingdom of Bahrain’s aspirations for a prosperous future to be enjoyed by Bahraini people emanating from the sense of national responsibility and finding effective solutions, processing and partnership.

Dr. Al-Jishi during her participation in the parliamentary session held at the UN headquarters in New York reiterated that the national Committee for Implementation of BICI’s report and its recommendations presided over by Shura Council’s chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh and comprising 18 Bahraini VIPs and stressed the need for transparency and partnership with the government when it comes to dealing with the status quo.

Dr. Al-Jishi made this statement during her meeting with the International Parliamentary Association’s secretary General Anders Johnson who accentuated the need for stability; partnership and the role of the legislature in achieve further security and development in the community and wished the Kingdom of Bahrain more progress and development.
