Industry and Commerce Minister and Chairman of the Bahrain Exhibitions and Conventions Authority (BECA) Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro lauded His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s patronage of the 20th edition of Jewellery Arabia, which attracted massive local and international participants and exhibitors who displayed the latest designs and brands.
“HRH Premier’s annual patronage of ‘Jewellery Arabia’ testifies to the event’s growing importance and reflects the wise leadership and the government’s strong resolve to attract world specialized exhibitions and functions in order to enhance the exhibitions sector and reaffirm the kingdom’s leading position in this regard,” he said, reiterating the Industry and Commerce Ministry’s constant keenness to upgrade the sector.
Dr. Fakhro also asserted that the Ministry has made tremendous efforts to improve ‘Jewellery Arabia’ through enabling local dealers to take part in it and activating the role of the ministry in controlling and inspecting goods on offer by enabling buyers to examine gold through laboratory examination at the exhibition.
He also hailed the role played by all government sides, including the Interior Minister, for their support, which, he said, has ensured the safety of the participants and the success of the event.
Dr. Fakhro also paid tribute to the Information Affairs Authority (IAA), for its outstanding media coverage of the event, and Tamkeen for supporting local exhibitors.
This year’s edition of ‘Jewelly Arabia’ attracted a total of 42492 visitors, 23.5% of them were from Saudi Arabia.
Security measures were also stepped up as additional cameras were fitted, and stringent security checks were set up.
