The national assemblies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are interested in activating parliamentary diplomacy as a means to extend bridges of communication with foreign parliaments and consolidate legislative cooperation for the joint interests of the GCC states, stated Representatives Council Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani.
The role of GCC parliaments will witness a qualitative leap, in terms of performance, legislation and auditing, in light of the latest regional developments “requiring them to respond to people’s aspirations,” he added.
This came as the Kingdom’s parliamentary delegation left for Saudi Arabia to take part in GCC parliamentary meeting due to be held in Jeddah.
