Embodying its commitment to supporting local entities and activities, Batelco, Bahrain’s leading Telecommunications Company, announces its sponsorship for “New Eyes on Tradition” event organized by Shajara Tayyibah, a committee within Bahrain Society for Women’s Development. The event was held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of Bahrain.
At a meeting held recently at Batelco’s headquarters in Hamala, Batelco Public Relations Manager Osama Alsaad presented the sponsorship cheque for BD15000 to Bahrain Society for Women Development Treasury Secretary, Nadia Al Najar. Batelco General Manager Media Relations Ahmed Al Janahi said that Batelco was delighted to support such a worthy initiative.
“Such an activity deserves full support, as it encourages the Bahraini talented people to capitalize on their capabilities and skills to secure a source of income for them on the one hand, and to promote the heritage of the Kingdom to the world on the other hand,” he added
“We are proud to be a leading supporter of this and other worthwhile causes and events that ultimately contribute to the well-being of the community members and at the same time serve the interests of our beloved Kingdom,” he said.
Members of Shajara Tayyibah Committee are working in close collaboration with local artists to help them use modern techniques in making their traditional products; such as basket weaving and pottery in a more innovative and creative manner. This endeavor by the Shajara Tayyibah Committee is aimed to help Bahraini artists and craftsmen make their work more attractive to potential customers in order to compete locally and internationally. Proceeds of this event will be used for the development of the craftsmen community.
