A GCC joint unit has been established to undertake the pricing of medical drugs.
The GCC health ministers decided to set up the panel during their 72th conference recently held on January 4-5 in Muscat, Oman.
Human Rights and Social Development Minister and Acting Health Minister Dr. Fatima bint Mohammed Al-Balooshi hailed the initiative.
The newly-established unit will be affiliated with the GCC Executive Bureau central registration section. Dr. Al-Balooshi lauded the efforts of the health ministry’s team who worked hand in hand with their GCC counterparts to establish the units.
The GCC member states will coordinate efforts to reduce the prices of drugs by approving profit margin which does not exceed 45% of the import prices.
