His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has called for the need to activate joint Arab action and consolidate continuous cooperation between Arab countries in all fields, especially the political, economic and social ones, amid the challenges facing them currently. HRH Premier made the call as he received on Sunday the Secretary-General of the Arab League Dr. Nabil Al Arabi.
During the meeting, HRH Premier praised the role played by the Arab League to strengthen cooperation among Arab states and support for their security, stability and development, stressing the need to carry on the efforts aiming to boost Arab solidarity and unity and come up with the best mechanisms that enable Arab states to coordinate and act collectively in order to be able to face the current challenges.
HRH Premier also stressed that upgrading joint Arab action methods in such a historic phase requires all sides to launch political, economic and social initiatives and visions that meet the Arab peoples’ needs and expectations and ensure them a more secure and prosperous future. In this context, HRH Prince Khalifa asserted that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s call to establish an Arab Human Rights Tribunal is an “unprecedented” initiative reflecting the kingdom’s constant keenness to advance joint Arab action so as to safeguard Arab countries from foreign intervention.
“Consolidating inter-Arab relations is the cornerstone of the foreign policy of the kingdom out of its strong belief in the common history and destiny bringing together all Arab peoples,” HRH Premier also said, reiterating Bahrain’s commitment to continue playing its role as an “effective” Arab League member.
Dr. Nabil Al Arabi commended the reform steps taken by kingdom to address the repercussions of last year’s incidents, citing the establishment of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), the kingdom’s commitment to implement BICI recommendations and the constitutional amendments announced by HM King Hamad in order to translate the visions agreed upon by the Bahraini people during the National Consensus Dialogue into reality.
