Public Prosecution Dr. Ali bin Fadhl Al-Buanain outlined the measures undertaken to implements the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI).
Dr. Al-Buainain cited particularly the immediate decision to drop charges relating to freedom of opinion and expression. He also pointed out the decision not to take the confessions of the accused involved in the occupation of the Salmaniya Medical Complex into consideration.
The Interior Ministry has also referred to the Public Prosecution cases of alleged harsh treatment.
A total fifty policemen are suspected of involvement in the cases which were transferred from the military court to the ordinary courts. The Public Prosecutor also issued a key decision establishing a special investigation unit under his direct authority to probe claims of torture and harsh treatment.
Sixty sound-proof rooms will also be equipped with CCTV cameras to ensure high-quality recording.
The facilities are expected to be operational soon
